O’Hare and Istanbul Airports Sign Sister Airport Agreement

Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and iGA Istanbul Airport have signed a Sister Airport agreement, establishing a new partnership between two major global aviation hubs. The agreement aims to strengthen collaboration in airport management, innovation, customer service, and sustainability.“
This agreement opens a new chapter between two powerhouse airports,” said Selahattin Bilgen, CEO of iGA. “We’re building stronger bridges between continents and creating new opportunities for growth and innovation.”
Signed during a ceremony at O’Hare’s Terminal 5, the agreement also highlights growing economic and cultural ties between Chicago and Türkiye. With over 330 destinations, iGA is the world’s most connected airport and serves as a key hub for Turkish Airlines and Star Alliance.
This marks iGA’s first sister airport partnership in the Americas and O’Hare’s 10th globally. Both airports expect mutual benefits in expanding passenger and cargo networks across continents.
